Water Damage Restoration
Burst supply lines, failed shower pans, sewer backup, spring thaw seepage and roof leaks. We remove wet material, confirm the structure has dried before rebuilding, then rebuild the affected rooms.
Fire and water damage rebuilds, historic and commercial restoration, and facade repair. Phone answered 24/7, family run since 1999.
Building restoration in Ottawa starts with two questions: what caused the damage, and what is still sound. Call (613) 261-4861 and we will come look.
We have rebuilt after fire, flooding and burst pipes across the greater Ottawa area since 1999. Spring thaw against a Gloucester foundation, a January pipe failure in a Kanata bathroom wall, and old brick facades downtown that have taken decades of freeze and thaw.
Restoration is not the same as renovation. The building is already damaged, insurers are usually involved, and the order of work is dictated by drying and safety rather than by preference.
Five service lines across homes and commercial buildings.
Each service below has its own page with the detail on how we do it, what it costs and how long it takes. We cover historic building restoration, commercial building restoration, fire damage restoration, facade restoration and water damage restoration.
Burst supply lines, failed shower pans, sewer backup, spring thaw seepage and roof leaks. We remove wet material, confirm the structure has dried before rebuilding, then rebuild the affected rooms.
Post fire rebuilds including structural repair, smoke damaged material removal, and full reconstruction of affected areas. Specialist cleaning and abatement firms are brought in and coordinated where the damage calls for them.
Older Ottawa buildings where matching matters. Repointing with appropriate mortar, repairing original wood windows and trim, and rebuilding damaged detail rather than replacing it with something that reads wrong on the street.
Storefronts, offices, multi unit residential and industrial space. We work around tenants and operating hours where possible, and we scope work so a business can keep running through as much of it as it can.
Brick, block and stone facades that have spalled, cracked or lost mortar. Includes lintel and sill repair, parging, and correcting the drainage details that let water into the wall in the first place.
March and April are our busiest weeks for water calls, and it is rarely a mystery why.
Snow melts fast, the ground is still frozen so it cannot absorb the water, and everything runs toward the lowest point. That is often a basement window well or a foundation crack. Add a downspout discharging beside the wall and you have a wet basement every year until the grading is fixed.
So we treat the cause as part of the job. Rebuilding a finished basement without correcting drainage means doing it again in two springs.
The other peak is deep January cold. Pipes in exterior walls, unheated garages and rim joist runs freeze, split, and then flood the moment they thaw.
If it has just happened, shut the water off at the main and call us. We assess what is wet, get material opened up so the structure can dry, and scope the rebuild while the drying happens.
Most restoration jobs involve a claim, and claims move on documentation.
We photograph the damage, note the visible cause, and produce a staged scope with pricing. That gives your adjuster something specific rather than a one line quote, which is what usually causes delays and pushback.
You choose the contractor for your repair. If you want a second opinion on a scope your insurer has already produced, our building consultant service covers exactly that review.
Ottawa has a lot of pre-1960 brick, and most of it was laid with soft lime based mortar.
Repointing that wall with hard modern mortar looks fine for a season, then starts breaking the face off the brick, because the mortar is no longer the sacrificial part of the assembly. We match mortar strength to the age of the wall, rake joints to the right depth, and schedule the work between late spring and early autumn so it cures before frost.
On heritage streets in downtown Ottawa, exterior work can face additional review. We factor that into the timeline rather than discovering it after scaffold is up.
A restoration is a rare chance to fix what was wrong originally.
A basement being rebuilt after flooding can get proper insulation, a moisture tolerant floor and a sump. A wall opened after a pipe failure can get insulation and an air seal where there was none. Where scope allows, we point those opportunities out, then handle the work as your general contractor with our own dry wall and painting crews finishing it.
Four stages, starting with the phone call.
Straight to us, any hour. We tell you what to shut off, move or photograph before we arrive.
On site evaluation of what is damaged, what caused it, and what has to come out.
Written staged scope for your insurer, specialists booked where needed, drying confirmed before rebuild.
Licensed crews restore the space, correct the original cause, and walk the finished work with you.
We restore homes and commercial buildings throughout the greater Ottawa area. Pick your neighbourhood for local detail.
Stop the water source if you can, keep power off in the wet area, and call us. We assess what has to come out, get the structure opened up so it can dry, and document everything for your claim before rebuilding.
We prepare the documentation and staged scope your adjuster needs, and we speak with them during the process. You remain the client, and in Ontario you choose your own contractor for the repair.
Drying usually takes several days to a couple of weeks depending on how much material got wet. The rebuild timeline starts after that, and a single finished basement typically runs four to eight weeks once drying is confirmed.
Often closely, though exact matches on century brick are rare. We source the closest available brick, sometimes salvage from a less visible elevation, and match mortar colour and joint profile so the repair does not stand out.
We identify it and bring in qualified remediation or abatement specialists, then coordinate their work inside the schedule. Rebuilding starts once clearance has been given.
