Roof repair
Leak tracing, shingle replacement in sections, flashing and vent boot repair, and ice dam damage. Winter leaks in Ottawa are usually a ventilation problem, so we look in the attic as well as on the roof.
Roofing, remodels, basements, demolition, mechanical upgrades and masonry, run under one contract with one schedule. Family run since 1999.
A general contractor in Ottawa is really a scheduler with a tool belt. Call (613) 261-4861 and we will walk your project and tell you the order it needs to happen in.
We have run jobs across the greater Ottawa area since 1999. Roofs off in July, basements framed in February, brick repointed once the frost is out of the wall in May.
When one company holds the contract, nobody blames the other trade. If the tile cracks over a bad subfloor, that is our problem to fix, not an argument between two subs you hired separately.
Eleven service lines. Licensed trades are brought in where the law requires it, coordinated by us.
Each service below has its own page with the detail on how we do it, what it costs and how long it takes. We cover roof repair, home remodeling, basement finishing, demolition services, electrical system upgrades, plumbing system upgrades, repairs and maintenance, roof replacement, new roof installation, brick repair and stone masonry.
Leak tracing, shingle replacement in sections, flashing and vent boot repair, and ice dam damage. Winter leaks in Ottawa are usually a ventilation problem, so we look in the attic as well as on the roof.
Full tear off to the deck, sheathing repair, ice and water membrane at eaves and valleys, new underlay and shingles. Ottawa snow load and ice damming make the eave detail the part that matters most.
Roofing on additions, garages, sunrooms and new builds, including tying a new roof line into an existing one with proper valley flashing, ventilation and insulation continuity.
Interior remodels of any size, from one room to the whole house, with trades sequenced on a single schedule. See our remodeler page for how the stages run.
Framing, insulation, moisture control, egress windows, mechanical rework and finishes. Ottawa basements need the moisture question answered before framing starts. More on basement renovation.
Interior strip outs, garage and shed removal, concrete breakout and full gut jobs. Bins, disposal, dust control and protection of what stays are all part of the scope.
Panel upgrades, aluminum wiring remediation, added circuits, pot lights and EV chargers. Electrical work is carried out by licensed electricians with the required ESA notification, coordinated inside our schedule.
Replacing galvanized or cast iron lines, moving supply and drains for new layouts, and fixture rough-ins. Licensed plumbers do the work, inspected where the permit requires it.
The list that never gets done. Doors that stick, failed caulking, rotten trim, damaged drywall, loose railings and small structural repairs, handled in one visit where possible.
Repointing failed mortar joints, replacing spalled brick, rebuilding sills and lintels, and chimney work. Freeze and thaw cycles here break down old mortar faster than most owners expect.
Natural and manufactured stone on facades, porches, columns, steps and retaining walls, built with proper drainage and flashing behind the stone.
Ottawa roofs do not usually fail in a storm. They fail at the eaves in February.
Heat escaping into a poorly vented attic melts snow on the roof surface. The water runs down, hits the cold overhang, and freezes. That ridge of ice backs water up under the shingles and into the ceiling below.
So a roof replacement here is as much an attic job as a shingle job. We check insulation depth, soffit and ridge venting, and whether bathroom fans are exhausting into the attic. Ice and water membrane goes well up from the eave, and valleys get membrane too.
Older brick in Sandy Hill, Centretown and the pre-1960 stock around Riverside Park was laid with soft lime mortar. Repointing it with a hard modern mortar traps moisture and cracks the brick face instead of the joint.
We match mortar to the age of the wall, and we schedule repointing for late spring through early autumn so the mortar cures before frost arrives.
The order is not negotiable, and it is where amateur projects come apart.
Demolition, then structural framing, then rough-in for plumbing and electrical, then inspection, then insulation and vapour barrier, then dry wall, then paint, then flooring, then trim and fixtures.
Skip an inspection and the drywall comes back off. Put flooring in before paint and you pay twice for protection. We hold the sequence and you get one schedule to follow instead of five phone numbers to chase.
Structural work, basement finishing, new plumbing lines and panel changes generally need a City of Ottawa building permit. Electrical work needs its own notification to the Electrical Safety Authority.
We handle those applications, book inspections, and meet inspectors on site. You can see the paperwork at any point. If you want an independent read on the process instead, our building consultant service covers inspections and project management on their own.
We work all twelve months, but not on everything. Roofing runs from spring through late autumn, with emergency repairs any time. Masonry needs frost free conditions. Excavation waits for thaw.
Interior work runs straight through winter, which is why Kanata basements and Orleans bathrooms fill our January and February. Booking interior work in the cold months usually means a faster start.
Four stages, the same on a roof repair and on a full gut renovation.
We look at the work, get into the attic or basement where it matters, and flag what we find.
Scope, trades, permits, schedule and price in writing. You approve before anything is booked.
Trades in the right order, inspections booked at the right stages, site cleaned daily.
Final inspection where applicable, deficiency walk with you, then the warranty starts.
We run projects throughout the greater Ottawa area. Pick your neighbourhood for local detail.
We hold the contract for the whole project, hire and schedule every trade, pull permits, meet inspectors, and carry responsibility for the finished result. You deal with one company instead of coordinating six.
It depends on roof area, pitch, number of layers to tear off, and the condition of the sheathing underneath. We measure, check the attic, and quote in writing. Anyone pricing an Ottawa roof over the phone is guessing.
That is almost always ice damming rather than a failed shingle. Warm air escaping into the attic melts snow, the meltwater refreezes at the cold eave, and water backs up under the shingles. The fix is insulation and ventilation, not just new shingles.
Licensed electricians and plumbers do that work, with ESA notification and permits where required. We coordinate them inside our schedule and remain responsible for the project as a whole.
Late spring through early autumn, once there is no frost risk. Mortar needs above freezing temperatures to cure. Repointing in November tends to fail by spring, so we schedule it properly rather than rush it.
Both. Repairs and maintenance is one of our service lines, and we group small items into a single visit where we can. Larger projects get a full contract and schedule.
One call covers the whole project. We scope it, price it, permit it, schedule it and stand behind it.
